Salvation

FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES: COLOSSIANS 1:12-14 REVELATION 1:5-6

INTRODUCTION
Salvation has three main focus points in the Word of God i) Sin, the fall of Man. ii) Jesus Christ, the Saviour. iii) Salvation, the new life.

WORD MEANING (SALVATION)
In the Hebrew and Greek it denotes to rescue, preserve, redeem, save and to reconcile. Spiritual & Material. (Vines Expository Dictionary)

1) SIN - THE FALL OF MAN.
i) Genesis 2: 15-17, 3: 1-24. Spiritual death (separation from the presence of God) came as a result of Adams disobedience to God and his obedience to Satan. This is called Sin, which is to disobey what is required by God.
ii) 2 Corinthians 4:1-6, Luke 4: 5-6 Satan became the God of this world through Adams Sin, he is the oppressor and is the one controlling those who have not been delivered or rescued from his dominion.
iii) Leviticus 17:11 Hebrews 9:22 It was required by God for a sacrifice of Blood to be shed (a lamb), which would provide cleansing of Sin for people to enter the Holy of Holies (Presence of God). Sin had kept man from having fellowship with God and living in his power over Sin and Satan control.

2) JESUS CHRIST - THE SAVIOUR
i) Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 53, Luke 1:67-79. God was preparing the way for a Lamb that could take away the Sin of man, not just once but forever. In the Old Testament, they looked for the Messiah (saviour) to come, he came and his name is Jesus Christ.
ii) John 1: 29, Hebrews 9:11-15, 1 Peter 1:18-21. Jesus was the Lamb which God provided for the Sin of the world. He is the only one through whom Salvation came, there was none other and will be none other. Jesus is The Lamb of God.
iii) 1 John 3:8, Hebrews 2:14-18, Colossians 1:12-14. Jesus came to destroy the power of Satan over people, in doing so he provided salvation and deliverance from a lost eternity in hell, who could now go to heaven. God had to restore his spirit in man, so they could have a new sinless nature with a new Lord and Master, Jesus Christ.

3) SALVATION - THE NEW LIFE
i) Ezekiel 36: 25-27, John 3:1-8, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we can receive forgiveness of sin and receive new life in Jesus Christ. This was God's plan to reconcile us back to himself and have fellowship once again with God.
ii) Romans 6:4-5, 1 John 5:11-12, Galatians 2:20. We have become brand new in Christ now and we are to live in his life (nature and ability) , We have become sons and daughters of God, we are a new race of people on this earth walking in his life and his Spirit.
iii) Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 101-17. Salvation is free to whosoever will repent and believe the good news of what Jesus did for us at the cross (our substitute and forgiveness) and our confession of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour before the world, Satan and hosts of heaven. Salvation is to be restored back to fellowship with God through the Blood of Jesus Christ and then to live here on earth in his life and power over Satan, sin and the flesh and in the world to come heaven.

CONCLUSION:
Salvation has three main points: the fall of man through sin, the sacrifice for sin through Jesus Christ and the availability of Salvation from sin through faith in Jesus Christ.
