Who am I?

FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES: 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 4:12

INTRODUCTION
Understand who we are Spirit, Soul and Body and our place in Christ Jesus.

WORD MEANING:
Spirit - (Greek) Pneuma - breathe, wind or an unseen spiritual force.
Soul - (Greek) Psuche - mind, mental capacity or your will.
Body - (Greek) Soma - instrument of life, physical body.

1) SPIRIT OF MAN
i) Ezekiel 36: 26-27. God promised that he would give us a new spirit and new heart, one which would be able to fulfill the requirements of the Law and fellowship with God.
ii) Genesis 1:26-27 John 4:23-24. God is a spirit and lives in the spiritual realm, who is the originator of this physical realm. Man lives in a physical body, has a soul (mind, will, emotions) and is a spiritual person with the ability to fellowship with God, who is spirit. God made man in his own image or likeness. We were made individuals with our own ability to make decisions, not like robots.
iii) John 1:12-13, John 3:3, 1 Peter 3:4. We are born again in our spirits, which means we have received the life of God into our spirits, made in his image and able to now fellowship with God as new creations through the blood of Christ.

2) SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY i) 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 4:12. We are a triune being according to these scriptures Spirit, Soul and Body.
ii) Romans 12:1-2 The bible says to offer your physical body as a living sacrifice before God and to renew or reprogram your mind, to change the way you think. The Word of God is to bring our thoughts and our wills in line with the will of God, through the renewing of our minds we will understand how we should live and conduct ourselves as new creations in Christ before God and the world. We are new on the inside (spirits) and our minds were not born again, the mind requires new information which comes from God's Word.

3) NEW CREATION
i) 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Peter 1:2-5. We have been made brand new on the inside (our spirits) and this means the old sinful (nature) life, has gone and we have now received from the Spirit of God a new nature, which in return we bring forth new fruits of right living and conduct.
ii) Ephesians 2:8-10, Ephesians 4:17-24. We have created in Christ Jesus, therefore we have a new nature in God. Our spirit's have been made right before God, we are able to fellowship with God in the spirit and walk in the spirit. In other words, to be able now to live a Godly lifestyle in this world because we have been given the life and nature of God through our union with Christ Jesus. iii) Galatians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 13:5, 1 John 4:4. God now dwells in us and wants to live through us. We are Jesus people, Jesus in you, Jesus in me.

CONCLUSION
The real you is the unseen you that lives within a physical body, we have a soul and this needs to be reprogrammed to think in line with God's Word. We are new creations and need to believe who we are now and live before God in obedience to what He has made us.
